Walgreens Boots Alliance (WBA) CEO Tim Wentworth recently announced three new senior hires, demonstrating the company’s sustained focus on health services and retail pharmacy.

Focus on Healthcare Expansion :

Wentworth emphasised the importance of these appointments, saying, “Today’s announcement solidifies the leadership team that will carry WBA into its future as we look to expand our reach beyond neighbourhood pharmacies and into the fastest-growing areas of healthcare.”

Mary Langowski: EVP and President of United States Healthcare :

Mary Langowski, appointed EVP and President of U.S. Healthcare, offers extensive experience in pharmacy retail and retail healthcare services to the position. Her responsibilities include increasing Walgreens’ footprint in healthcare and providing solutions to industry stakeholders including as payers, health systems, pharmacy benefit managers, and biopharmaceutical producers.

Langowski formerly served as CEO of Solera Health and as EVP and Chief Strategy and Corporate Development Officer at CVS Health. She was instrumental in CVS Health’s transition to a healthcare corporation, most notably leading the acquisition of Aetna.

John Driscoll, the current EVP and President of U.S. Healthcare, will work closely with Wentworth, Langowski, and the U.S. Healthcare company in a senior advisory role.

Manmohan Mahajan, EVP and Permanent CFO :

Manmohan Mahajan takes on the post of EVP and permanent CFO at WBA. Mahajan joined the organisation in 2016 and previously worked as SVP, Global Controller, and Chief Accounting Officer. In July 2023, he took on the interim global CFO job to help WBA with its cost-cutting objectives.

Elizabeth Burger, EVP and Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO)

Elizabeth Burger, named EVP and Chief Human Resources Officer, completes the trio of appointments. Burger has over 25 years of expertise devising strategies to help business growth. She had worked as SVP and CHRO at Flowserve and as CHRO at Hanesbrands Inc. before joining WBA.

When Langowski, Mahajan, and Burger take on their new jobs in March 2024, they will report directly to Wentworth and join WBA’s existing executive leadership.
